Story

The song is musically and lyrically inspired by country music and its amazing use of metaphor. I also took inspiration

from the film "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick. Famously, one of the characters in the film says: "See you next

Wednesday" and of course, they never see him again.

In the song, I'm leaving my lover who is doing everything she can to keep me. I know that if I tell her that I never want

to see her gain, she'll hurt herself, so instead, I give her hope by telling her that I'll see her next Wednesday. I have

as much intent of seeing her as a winter bloom in June, or a widow and her groom.

Don't tell me to stay
Like the mustang you roped
Drag me to the stockade
And tie me down to a pole

You can stare with your whiskey-colored eyes
Is that poison in your mouth? As if you're gonna cry
But I've been here a hundred million times
I've learned to say goodbye

Love me? Hate Me? Doesn't matter now
I'm leaving you tonight, don't even ask me why
Love me? Hate Me? Doesn't matter now
I'm giving up this fight, I'll visit you this time

Next Wednesday
Like a winter bloom
I guess I'll see you soon
Next Wednesday

I'm pulling away
Like a rodeo horse
You should've put your money on me
'Cause now baby you've lost

You can stare with your whiskey-colored eyes
Is that poison in your mouth? As if you're gonna cry
But I've been here a hundred million times
I've learned to say goodbye

(Chorus)

I'll see you when the sky turns to black
And all the stars turn to ash
And blow across all the land
And cover every place
When all the mountain side lakes
Crawl back to where they began
I swear you'll see me again
Like desert sand sees the rain

It's written all in my face
You know I won't make you wait
I'll fall back into your hands

Love me? Hate?
Doesn't matter anymore
Love me? Hate me?
I guess I'll see you next Wednesday

(Chorus)
